Senator Beck to Attend April 19th Shrewsbury Borough Council Meeting

Senator Jennifer Beck will be attending the next regular meeting of the Shrewsbury Borough Council scheduled for April 19th at 8 p.m. at the Shrewsbury Borough Municipal Building, 419 Sycamore Avenue, Shrewsbury.

The Senator will be on hand to discuss issues that directly impact Shrewsbury and listen to the concerns of the residents of the Borough.

Eatontown and Tinton Falls Pass Resolutions in Support of Fort Monmouth Revitalization Act

The 12th District Legislators are very pleased to announce that the Borough Councils of both Tinton Falls and Eatontown have passed resolutions of support for S-917/A-597, which would create the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority to implement the redevelopment of Fort Monmouth after its planned September 2011 closure.

Senator Jennifer Beck, who sponsors the bill, has been working diligently with local leadership on crafting the specifics of the legislation so that the needs of the local municipalities are met.

12th District Legislators Call for Investigation of Possible Consumer Fraud in Case of Bridal Shop Closure

The 12th District Legislators call upon New Jersey Attorney General Paula Dow and Acting Director of Consumer Affairs Sharon M. Joyce to investigate the possibility of consumer fraud against the owner of Enzo’s Bridal, Manalapan, which suddenly closed last week while still processing orders.

Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande were shocked to learn that Enzo’s Bridal, located on Route 9, left so many brides-to-be in the lurch, many apparently without any notice.

NWS Earle Housing Bill Passes Senate

The 12th District Legislators are pleased to announced that a bill they sponsor that would require the State to conduct three independent studies of the impact of the privatization of 300 housing units on Naval Weapons Station Earle was passed by a vote of the full State Senate today by a vote of 36-0.

Senator Jennifer Beck (R-12) and Senator Joseph Kyrillos (R-13) are sponsoring the bill in the Senate, and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande and Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon (both R-12) sponsor the legislation in the General Assembly. The bill is awaiting a hearing in front of the Assembly Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.

Census Forms Will Soon Arrive – Data Determines States’ Representation and Share of Roughly $400 Billion in Annual Aid

With so much riding on the results of the upcoming Census, Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande and Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon, all R-Monmouth and Mercer, are encouraging all residents to make sure they are counted so that New Jersey is fairly represented in Congress and does not lose any federal aid because of an inaccurate count.

Public Meeting on Fort Monmouth Legislation Scheduled for April

The 12th District Legislators will be hosting a public meeting to discuss S-917, a bill that would create the Fort Monmouth Revitalization Implementation Authority, on Wednesday, April 21st at 7 p.m. at the Shore Regional High School Cafeteria. The Authority is being created to implement the redevelopment and revitalization plan created by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Planning Authority.

Bill Requiring Independent State Investigation of Housing Civilians at NWS Earle Passed by Senate Budget & Appropriations

Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande are pleased to announce that, S-1063, which prohibits local officers or employees from lobbying or advocating before any body of the municipality where he or she serves was passed out of the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee today.

The Assembly version of the bill, A-1619, sponsored by O’Scanlon and Casagrande was introduced in January and referred to Assembly Housing and Local Government Committee.

12th District Legislators Request Update on Status of Fort Monmouth Revitalization Plan

Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande have recently written to officials from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requesting an update on the status of the Fort Monmouth revitalization plan.

The plan was submitted on September 5, 2008, but no word of approval has come back from either HUD or the Department of Defense (DOD).

Beck, O’Scanlon & Casagrande “Diploma Mill” Bill Passes Senate by Vote of 38-0

The 12th District Legislators are please to announce that S-826, known as the “Diploma Mill Bill” was passed today in the State Senate.

The bill requires that in order for a public school employee to receive tuition assistance for coursework or a completion of a degree that the college or university be fully accredited. This bill was created in response to school employees using on-line “diploma mill” programs to increase their salaries.
